The World Peace Council is going to hold its Executive Committee meeting from October 23-25 in Damascus,Syria,hosted by the National Peace Council of Syria.

The meeting will be presided by its President Socorro Gomes,from Brazil and it is the first EC after the successful holding of the Assembly of the WPC last year in Caracas.

The high number of attendance,already more than 36 Organisations have confirmed their participation, is a proof for the further strengthening of the WPC and for the crucial situation in the Middle East where the WPC is holding its meeting for the first time after more than 20 years.

The EC meeting of the WPC will review and discuss the situation in various parts of the world concerning the peace and security,caused throuh wars and occupation, the new threats against nations and peoples by imperialism.

The WPC will also hold an event dedicated to its 60th anniversary during the EC meeting and will visit historical-political sites including the Golan Heights,which are still occupied by the Israeli troops.
